Social Media Policy

 


The mission of the Atlantic City Free Public Library is to provide services, programs and activities to meet the diverse educational, informational, and recreational needs of the Atlantic City Community.  In order to reach out to all potential users, the Atlantic City Free Public Library maintains blogs as well as a presence in Social Networks including but not limited to; Facebook and Myspace.  Please also be aware of the Atlantic City Free Public Library’s Internet Use Policy.

Terms of Use

The Atlantic City Free Public Library maintains blogs as well as an online presence including on MySpace and Facebook. The Atlantic City Free Public Library MySpace/Facebook pages may be linked to other such pages, known as Friends pages, which are neither created nor maintained by the Atlantic City Free Public Library. The Atlantic City Free Public Library will review Friends requests from anyone. Friends’ pages should not violate the Atlantic City Free Public Library’s Internet Use Policy. The Library reserves the right to remove any Friend from its MySpace/Facebook page.

As with all Library resources, the Library affirms the right and responsibility of parents/guardians, NOT Library staff, to determine and monitor their minor children’s use of the internet. (Minors are defined in this policy as children and young people under the age of 18 years.) Parents are responsible for their minor children’s use of the Library’s resources and facilities. Parents who believe that their children cannot responsibly use the Library’s internet access, including access to Social Networks, are requested to monitor their children’s internet use.

Comment Moderation

All reader comments are reviewed prior to being published. Please post responsibly. Do not post comments that are off topic, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening or an invasion of privacy.  The following will be removed by Atlantic City Free Public Library editors: potentially libelous comments; obscene or racist comments; personal attacks, insults, or threatening language; plagiarized material; private, personal information published without consent; comments substantially unrelated to the topic of the forum; commercial promotions or spam; and hyperlinks to material that is not directly related to the discussion.  Participants will be encouraged to use their real names, but inoffensive screen names will be acceptable.
